We visited a new clinic in Vienna offering ketamine-assisted therapy. Dr. Claus Derganc showed us around and discussed the treatment\u2019s potential, its risks, and how patients work through difficult experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opened in January 2026, Vienna\u2019s Center for Augmented Therapy (<a href=\"https:\/\/augmentierte-therapie.at\/\">Centrum f\u00fcr Augmentierte Therapie<\/a>) brings together doctors, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists. Its patients include people whose depression, anxiety, or other mental health conditions have not responded adequately to previous treatments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group dr-wide-content\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pgaPp5dpFFY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>But how does a ketamine experience become a therapeutic process?<\/em> At the clinic, medical screening and preparation precede treatment, during which patients receive ketamine through an intravenous infusion under professional supervision. Music, the setting, and subsequent psychotherapy to help integrate the experience all play an important role in the clinic\u2019s approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our short film, we explore the treatment rooms and ask questions that anyone curious about the approach might have: <em>What does ketamine feel like? What happens if someone is afraid to let go of control? Who should not receive the treatment, and how does the team screen for addiction risk?
