The Rights Reporter Foundation (RRF) is now accepting submissions to the “Let’s Get Real About Drugs!” poster contest, as part of our campaign to raise awareness on alternatives to punitive drug policies. The contest is targeting the 20-year review of global drug control efforts at the United Nations General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) on drugs in New York, April 2016. Drug users demand governments to lift the ban on opiate substitution treatment and remove criminal sanctions of drug use – a speech delivered by Daria Mogucheva on behalf of the Eurasian Network of People Who Use Drugs at the civil society hearing in preparation of the UNGASS on drugs, to be held in April.
Danish MPs today debated a bill which would allow people to bring a friend with them into the drug consumption room, to assist them with injecting. We interviewed Nanna W. Gotfredsen, head of Gadejuristen (Danish Street Lawyers) about the significance of this reform.
MDMA’s neurotoxicity is the topic of this and many future editions of Dose of Science. The question is not whether MDMA is neurotoxic in an absolute sense, but rather, what is the extent of the damage at various dosing regimens. Stephen Kish’s study  from 2010 aims to clarify the picture by employing a range of neuroimaging techniques and cognitive tests on a large sample while controlling for many potential confounding factors.
