At ICPR 2024, we talked to psychologist and psychotherapist Marc B. Aixalà about how so-called “bad trips” can be reframed as difficult but potentially transformative experiences, and the importance of integration in psychedelic therapy.
Marc B. Aixalà is a psychologist, psychotherapist, and author from Spain. We discussed with Aixalà why he prefers the term difficult experiences, the different ways such challenges can unfold, and how integration helps people make sense of them. We also talked about the role of therapists, the risks of burnout, and whether psychedelic-assisted therapy might find its place in mainstream medical care.
