Watch and share the speeches captured at the opening session of the International Drug Policy Reform Conference in Washington DC, 19th of November, 2015.

Earl Blumenauer is the U.S. Representative for Oregon’s 3rd congressional district, serving since 1996. He is speaking about bipartisan efforts of US legislators to end marijuana prohibition.

Hakeem Sekou Jeffries is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New York’s 8th congressional district in Brooklyn and Queens.

After enduring this turbulent four-year relationship in 1994, Kemba was sentenced to 24.5 years and served 6.5 years in federal prison. Fortunately, she regained her freedom after President Clinton granted her clemency in December 2000. Her case drew support from across the nation and the world to reverse a disturbing trend in the rise of lengthy sentences for first time non-violent drug offenders.

Jason Hernandez is the first latino who was sentenced to imprisonment for non-violent drug offense and to get clemency by President Obama.

Ethan Nadelmann is the executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance.
