Psychedelic plants and substances have been a major influence and a key element in the unfolding of human evolution and our cultural development. Now more than ever they are playing a crucial role in the paradigm shift thanks to Psychedelic Science.
Biomedical and clinical research continuously help to consolidate our knowledge and understanding of the body, the mind, and, especially when we look at the history of psychedelics, the brain with its infinite complexity and still unknown mysteries.
2017 saw the biggest international psychedelic conference that has ever taken place on this planet. Organised by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), Psychedelic Science 2017 gathered together the leading scientists, thinkers, researchers, and experts to share and present the state of the art in the current development of new protocols and treatment models that use psychedelics as therapeutic tools; helping people to find wholeness and wellbeing in these complicated and modern times.
With this first part of the documentary, we try to cover the “Now And Then” to help the viewer gain a broader understanding of how the first wave of psychedelic research and science from the 1940s and 50s compares to what is ongoing today worldwide. We will continue with a follow up on “Future Steps” to gain a better shared vision on what we can do to support and promote psychedelic science, and what will be emerging soon through the joint efforts of this worldwide community.
