The best three projects get bonus grants from Global Giving, Andrey Rylkov’s project ranks on the 6th place now – your donation can make a difference by April! Did you know that 8 in 10 new HIV infections occur among injecting drug users in Russia? Did you know that the epidemic could be easily stopped by simple and cost-effective methods like needle and syringe programs and opiate substitution treatment among drug users? Did you know that Russia does not spend a cent on needle exchange and bans opiate substitution treatment? And finally – did you know that you can make a difference right here, right now? Click on the picture! Support the “Mobile Services for 1000 Drug Users in Moscow” campaign on Global Giving website – At the conclusion of the Challenge the top three (3) projects that raise the most funds will also receive supplementary cash bonuses from GlobalGiving of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 respectively. The project with the greatest number of unique donors will be awarded a bonus of $2,000. Now the project of the Andrey Rylkov Foundation ranks on the 6th place – with a little help from you it can get into the top three! Don’t forget to share the campaign site on your Facebook wall too!
There is only one NGO in Moscow that provides clean needles and non-judgmental help for young drug users – the Andrey Rylkov Foundation. The Foundation does not get any funding from the government, what is more, the authorities banned its website for spreading drug propaganda – that is, initiating discussion on opiate substitution treatment, an evidence-based form of treatment that is supported by all UN agencies. Now they need the help of the international community to buy a needle exchange van for vulnerable young people in Moscow. Posted by Peter Sarosi
