The winning articles of the 'Dark Side of Drug Policies' schloraships for journalists

In the framework of the European Drug Policy Initiative, the HCLU launched a call for the “The Dark Side of Drug Policies” scholarship for journalists who are prepared to work on an investigative report about a specific problem generated by drug policies in their countries. The aim of the scholarship is raise media awareness on the consequences of drug control policies at the local or national level.

We approached journalists from virtually all European countries through our informal networks, in addition, we asked our national coordinators to identify 2-3 journalists from the given country who would be willing to apply for the scholarship. Together with our national partners we assessed the journalists’ skills in writing high quality reports on drug policy related subjects, as well as how comprehensive is their understanding of the drug phenomenon.
